PowerPoint has lost the limelight it earlier had. Previously
all presentation related work depended on MSFT’s PowerPoint since it was the
game changer back then but since time has passed Prezi has taken over
PowerPoint resulting in another decline for the company. The company is well
aware of this decline and thus for the same reason they plan to put an end to
this decline. MSFT plans to launch
Microsoft Sway which will again turn the ball in their court.
This application will be extreme distinct in nature and
cater to all the presentation related needs of the tech savvy generation. The
features of this application would be drop and drag of videos, photos, files
and other media forms from Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other cloud storage
devices. The application can be used through web browsers or mobile phones but
the data/presentations will be stored on the web only.
The company acknowledged various forums about launching such
an application in October but in November 2014 thus company gave a brief
introduction about the features of this application. The company ensures users that they have
played quite a lot with the application and have ensured to make it easy to
use. The software will not only cater to
presentation related needs but also make it a better experience for users.
The application will also be fun and kinky. The company has
offered it similar mechanisms like Google’s ‘I feel lucky button’. The app will
let you change backgrounds according to your mood and add more glamour to the
overall experience.
The company in its demo trailer launch did not really
succeed in making its users cling on to the application. Although the
application is vibrant and fun but it does not currently boast of any such
feature which would attract users. Currently it is said that Prezi is used by
almost 80 percent of the world. The Fortune 500 companies mostly relying on
Prezi for their presentation needs. Thus this way they have turned PowerPoint
down
Hence in a nutshell, MSFT Sway has a huge task on its
shoulder since it has a massive audience to attract now. If the company fails
to deliver then there might not just be any way left to redeem their position.
